Ross Stromberg, Esq
Board Chair


Mr. Stromberg is a graduate of Humboldt State University and the Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley. Member of the State Bar of California, the Bar Association of San Francisco, the American Health Lawyers Association (past president), and the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys (founding director), Ross practiced health and hospital law from 1965 to 2009 in San Francisco and Los Angeles with several firms including Jones Day where he was the partner leader of the firm's national health care practice for 15 years. From  2010 through 2015, Ross was associated with the San Francisco office of  PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Healthcare Consultant. He has also served as the Chair of the Board of Directors of Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa, and as a Board Member of Sutter Health West Bay and the Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation. He retired as of February 1, 2015, and is enjoying life in Dry Creek Valley.

Surani Kwan
Board Vice-Chair


Surani Kwan works as the Executive Director of Operations for Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation. Prior to that she worked for 19 years in the hospital setting as Director of Perioperative Services, Pharmacy and Environmental Services at Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa. In addition, Ms. Kwan works as a nurse practitioner at the Russian River Health Clinic, a federally-qualified health clinic in Guerneville, California, where she cares for a variety of patients from healthy child checkups to end-stage AIDS from throughout Sonoma County. Ms. Kwan is the Past President of The California Association for Nurse Practitioners, CANP, the only professional organization representing Nurse Practitioners in the state of California. Ms. Kwan has a 15 year history with CANP. In the Sonoma County region she has served as President-Elect, President, Public Relations Chair and CEU Coordinator. On the state level, she has served on the Health Policy and Practice Committee, as President-elect, as Educational Conference Chairperson and as President. Ms. Kwan holds an Associate Degree in Nursing from Santa Rosa Junior College and a Master of Science in Nursing and a Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Sonoma State University. Additionally, she holds an MBA from SSU and is nationally certified in Family Practice. Ms. Kwan serves on a number of community-based boards focused on community health and wellness.

Tom Cleland, DDS
Board Member



Tom Cleland is a graduate of the University of Southern California and the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. Dr. Cleland provided services for many years to underprivileged families in San Bernardino while in private practice in Upland. Dr. Cleland was active with the tri-County Dental Society in San Bernadino, Riverside and Los Angeles, where he also served as a regional consultant for Medi-Cal. In 2012, Dr. Cleland retired from  Alliance Community Medical Center in Healdsburg. He has served on the PDI Surgery Center Board of Directors since 2006.

Connie Codding
Board Member



Connie Codding is President of the Codding Foundation, a family philanthropic foundation benefitting youth up to 18 years of age in Sonoma County. She also serves as Executive Vice President of Codding Enterprises which is currently developing Sonoma Mountain Village, a One Planet sustainable community located in Rohnert Park. Mrs. Codding serves on the board of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Sonoma State University, is on the Advocacy Committee for Planned Parenthood Northern California, and has Co-chaired the successful Campaign Committee for SAY’s Dream Center.

Katherine Foster, MD
Board Member



Katherine Foster, MD, is a pediatrician and Founding Board Member of PDI. She practiced clinical pediatrics at Kaiser Santa Rosa for 26 years, where she was a hospitalist, Ethics Committee Chair, and CME Coordinator. She was the Oral Health Educator for the American Academy of Pediatrics in Northern California from 2008 to 2012. Having a long-term interest in public health and child development, she was a First 5 Sonoma Commissioner from 2000 to 2011. In an effort to address service gaps in dental care for children, she worked with Suzie Shupe and First 5 to develop PDI Surgery Center from the ground up.

Jesús Guzmán
Board Member


Jesús Guzmán is the Program Director of the Graton Day Labor Center. As a community organizer, Jesús has dedicated himself to improving the lives of immigrant workers and their families in Sonoma County. Jesús is also the recipient of the Jefferson Award from the County of Sonoma Board of Supervisors, and the Mario Savio Student Activist Award from the ACLU of Sonoma County. Jesús is a graduate of the Santa Rosa Junior College and Sonoma State University, and is currently starting his Masters in Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley.

Maribeth Harper, Esq
Board Member


Maribeth holds a B.A. in English from the University of Hartford , a M.A. in American Studies from California State University, Los Angeles  and a J.D. from UCLA School of Law. Before retiring from the full-time practice of law, Maribeth specialized in complex commercial transactions, cybersecurity and privacy. She also mediated commercial, family, employment, and neighbor/neighborhood disputes. Currently, Maribeth practices law and mediates disputes on a part-time basis. She also volunteers as a mediator with Recourse Mediation Services, which includes mediating civil harassment, elder abuse and small claims cases scheduled for trial in the Sonoma County Courts. Maribeth is a member of the State Bar of California, Association for Dispute Resolution of Northern California, Mediate.com and the BNIT chapter of Business Network International. As a former board member of MentorNet and Make-A-Wish of the Greater Bay Area, her PDI board membership continues her commitment to help improve the lives of children and young people.

Bill Hawn
Board Member


Bill Hawn has served as President, Vice-President, and Administrator at a number of healthcare facilities over the years throughout Southern and Northern California, as well as abroad. Mr. Hawn’s affiliations include American College of Hospital Executives, Life Fellow; Healthcare Executives of Northern California, past President; Cordelia Rotary Club, past President; former chair of Slow Food Sonoma County Convivium. Mr. Hawn recieved a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medical Sciences, and Master of Science in Public Administration and Health Service Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Tara Jasper
Board Member


Busy raising three children and building a local telecommunications business, Sonic, Tara could easily take a pass when it comes to leading community causes. Instead, with a passionate spirit of building community, she is eager to make a difference when it comes to healthcare, education, and building a healthy and sustainable economy in Sonoma County. She was recently appointed by Supervisor Gore to be an Economic Development Board Member. At a growing business like Sonic, employees are top priority. The Jaspers believe improving health and education in our local communities also improves their employees’ lives. Tara has co-chaired Wine, Women & Shoes for two years, and was the fashion show coordinator the first year. Her leadership has helped raise over one million dollars for healthcare in Sonoma County. She deeply inspires others as she brings her insight and kindness to every endeavor.

Andrew McCormick,DDS Esq

Dr. Andrew T. McCormick is a native Californian, originally from Monterey County.  He went to US Santa Barbara (Biological Science Degree) And USC School of Dentistry.  Dr. McCormick opened his Santa Rosa dental practice at the end of 1985. Dr. McCormick has a passion for helping families smile.  He is thrilled to serve on the PDI Surgery Center board.

Jack Tibbetts
Board Member


An accomplished and respected professional with experience in public relations at the local, state, national, and international levels of government, Jack is a leader with extensive knowledge and experience in public policy analysis, communications, and community affairs. He is currently the Director of Government and Community Relations at California Clean Power where he manages relationships between the company, client, and ratepayers as its company spokesman. Prior to that, he was a Project Coordinator at the Sonoma County Economic Development Board where he oversaw the implementation of a grant-funded initiative targeted at helping low-to- moderate income (LMI) entrepreneurs start their own business. Jack holds a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley.

Henry Trione
Board Member


A passion for health through education, prevention and lifestyle choices combined with the mission to give children a chance to smile again gives Henry Trione enthusiasm to serve on PDI’s board. Henry learned the value of human development while earning his Bachelor of Science in International Relations at Stanford University. A medical internship in Paris, France first piqued Henry’s interest in surgery and efficiency in healthcare. He learned the lesson that quality care can be delivered if a team is highly organized and motivated, even with limited resources and space. Henry believes in developing a health infrastructure that is unique to location, and that PDI Surgery Center helps meet this need in his native Northern California.

Katie Albright, JD


Katie Albright is the Executive Director of the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center, a community-based organization working to prevent child abuse and reduce its devastating impact. She was the Policy Director for the San Francisco Education Fund and Co-Director of Policy and Outreach at Preschool California. She has served as Deputy City Attorney for San Francisco’s Office of the City Attorney and as Acting General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel for the San Francisco Unified School District. She serves on both the San Francisco University High School and San Francisco Day School’s Board of Trustees, and has been Commissioner to the San Francisco Juvenile Probation Commission and Board of Appeals. She is a former board member of NARAL Pro-Choice America, NARAL Pro-Choice California, and Planned Parenthood Golden Gate.

José R. Bedolla


The proud son of farm working parents, José Bedolla is a first generation high school graduate and a first generation college student. He has been involved in the community through various organizations promoting higher education for low income students, and particularly advocates for entrepreneurship, especially amongst minorities, women, and low income students. He has served on the Steering Committee for the Northern California Region of the California Immigrant Youth Justice Alliance, a statewide organization working closely with the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund. He serves as the PR representative for MeCHA de SRJC, and additionally is a Westside 4-H President and advisor and a Camp Geneva Nunez Counselor for low income youth. An active 20-30 #205 member, Mr. Bedolla is also a volunteer with KBBF Bilingual Radio, a Co-Founder of North Bay Immigrant Youth Union, a member and Co-Founder of the Communications Honor Society for Santa Rosa Junior College, and the founder of two businesses: Empiezaventures.com and VEENO Agave Wine via Healdsburg Beverage Group, LLC. He holds an Associates Degree in Communications from Santa Rosa Junior College and is transferring to Sacramento State University to complete his undergraduate degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations, minoring in Business. He intends to enter law school after graduation.

Mr. Berryhill serves as Director of the Tribal Dental Program, Indian Health Services.

Brad Bollinger


Brad Bollinger is associate publisher and editor-in-chief of North Bay Business Journal, which covers business in the counties of Sonoma, Napa and Marin.

Herman G. Hernandez


Herman G. Hernandez is the Communications and Development Coordinator for Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County. A second generation Latino born in Guerneville, Herman attended local public schools including Guerneville Elementary School, El Molino High School and Santa Rosa Junior College. He graduated from San Diego State University in the summer of 2011 with a Bachelor Degree in International Business Management. Herman serves as SCOE Trustee representing the 5th District and he is an active member of our Sonoma County community, dedicating himself to the success and well-being of our youth. He is currently serving as a School Board Trustee for the Sonoma County Office of Education, an Assembly Delegate for the California School Board Association, a Director on the California County Board of Education, Secretary and Co-Marketing Chair of the Elsie Allen High School Foundation. He is also Vice President of the College Tee Project, a Board Director of Restorative Resources, and is a member of Russian River Rotary Club. His vision as a newly elected Trustee for the Sonoma County Board of Education is for the County Board of Education to focus on closing the educational achievement gap; advancing programs that support career technical education; embracing technology and creating innovative programs that facilitate our students’ and teachers' success inside and outside the classroom.

Dr. Lewis is the Dental Director of the Mendocino Community Health Clinic.

Bret Martin


A volunteer spokesman for Bloodbank of the Redwoods and a board member of Kid Street Learning Center, Bret is the author of The Ultimate Cancer Peptalk, in collaboration with Redwood Regional Oncology's Dr. Marek Bozdech. Bret is a cancer survivor and a peace advocate with the local Islamic Society.

Andrew McCormick, DDS


Andrew McCormick has been a dentist in Sonoma County for over 30 years. He is a former board member for the Redwood Empire Dental Society and was in the fourth class of Leadership Santa Rosa sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. He is an accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, one of only 350 members worldwide. He loves his life in Sonoma County with his wife Lisa and their two grown sons and he understands the value of giving back to his community.

Susan Moore


President of Friends of FIGR and a board member of the Million March/Brady Campaign, Ms. Moore is a founder of several other non-profits, including Guardians of Casa, Girl by Girl, and the No Name Women’s Network. She is an affiliate of Roseland University Prep and a board member of the Southwest Clinic in Santa Rosa.

A radio host and blogger, Marcy is active on many local boards, including the Valley of the Moon Children's Foundation, North Bay Cancer Alliance, Sonoma Paradiso Foundation and Speedway Children's Charities.

Henry Wendt III



Retired CEO and Chairman of the Board for SmithKline Beecham Philadelphia and founder and former Board Chair of Community Foundation Sonoma County, Mr Wendt is the former owner of Quivira Estate Vineyards and Winery.

Jim Wood, DDS


Dr. Wood has been the Vice Mayor of Healdsburg and a former member of the Healdsburg Planning Commission. Dr. Wood has a family dental practice in Cloverdale and is a forensic dental consultant for Sonoma, Lake, and Mendocino counties as well as the California Department of Justice.
